Our founder, Heather Feinberg, was born in Santa Monica California and called the beaches of Venice her playground for the first four years of her life. Since then she has lived in California, Colorado, and many other cities in the U.S. and even abroad. One of her favorites was the year she and her family lived in Israel when she was thirteen.
Heather has been an educator for twenty years and a counselor for ten years, but it was her exploration and learning in the world of energetic and intuitive arts which formally began seven years ago where she was awakened to a level of healing and freedom that was both familiar and profoundly life-changing. She immediately began integrating what she was learning into her work with teens and young adults in the non-profit organizations where she was working and in her private counseling practice.
In 2011, she began her journey into motherhood which has been the most transformative experience of all. Seeing the world through this new lense, her path began to change and she felt called to work with kids, parents, teachers, counselors and anyone who helps guide our children in brand new ways. And this is how Mindful Kids was born...
Heather has been writing creatively since she was very young. She has always felt that words have power and has always wanted to use them in that way. The children's books she has written began coming to her as she and her daughter went through the infant and toddler years together, each of them sprouting in their own meaningful ways. Heather has many more books on the horizon, as she understands how powerful it is to pick up a book and open to a whole new world. She believes that her work can reach the greatest masses through her writing and can't wait to start publishing them and sharing them the world over. Her book about living with loss called "Everything Changes" is a creation thirty years in the making, as it is only from the first hand experience of having a father who passed away when Heather was nine years old that gave her the insight and inspiration to write such an important piece.
Heather is a transformational leader. Her work is focused and grounded in developing and creating tools for transformation in all aspects of life. It is an integration of information she gathered in the worlds of counseling, healing, meditation, and intuitive and energetic arts. It is grounded in the concepts of energy and somatic psychology, sensory development and integration, and spiritual and universal laws.
Heather has a B.A. in Anthropology, and an M.A. in Counseling and Human Services from The Univeristy of Colorado. She held a license as a professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Colorado. She trained extensively at the Inner Connection Institute in Denver, Colorado and is a devoted student of A Course In Miracles. Heather is a student of the world and is here to teach and to learn. She lives in Austin,TX with her husband, daughter, and their amazing dog.
